Remember those hypnotist shows that used to be a thing back in the day?

You know, Martin St James and those type of blokes.

I don’t know about you, but I think that’s all a bunch of crap.

In fact back in the day I went to one of Martin’s shows with some mates and volunteered to be put under.

I remember wanting to ‘go under’ but he couldn’t get me.

I went along with it for a little bit hoping he could get me under his spell but I remember him telling me to go to sleep once and I said no.

So I got sent down.

I don’t know, maybe it’s a mind thing if you go under?

Maybe I was just too stubborn.

Who knows.

But he didn’t convince me of his magic powers.

Even though it’s funny watching everyone else making a fool of themselves.

But there are definitely some tricks that you can use to get what you want at work and I found some psychological little tricks you can use.

So this may just come in handy for you at work when you need someone to get something done for you:

* Nodding your head when you explain something to someone – makes them think you know what you’re talking about

* Aim higher than what you want and compromise – the typical selling a used car trick. Set one price higher than you really want and then come back down.

Apparently by presenting your outrageous thought first you make what you really want sound like a good compromise.

* Always use someones name when you ask for something – people love the sound of their own name so use it to your advantage

* Speak fast cause the brain doesn’t have enough time to come up with a logical argument against what you say – the typical thing you’ll see a preacher on a 3am infomercial doing to get you to give them all your hard earned coin

What do you reckon?

Do they work?

Anyways, thought I’d give you something different to think about for a Friday morning…

PS – that lunch group thing I’ve been talking bout this week will be at Observatory Hill or Dawes if it goes ahead.

So far there’s 3 people in for Dawes Point – 2 for Observatory Hill. I need 4/5 more to make it work.

How about you? It’s not starting until January 11 but I want to lock things in with my diary before the year ends so hit reply and let me know if its for you
