Got a question to ask you today that I asked on my social media feeds last week.

What’s the best workout/fitness tip that you’ve ever received?

Mine? The best thing that I’ve learned over the last 19 years in the fitness industry (yep I started working in a hotel gym around this time back in 2000) is that you don’t have to workout for an hour or more to get an effective workout. 

Even 5 mins can be plenty providing you’re doing the right thing. 

Which is great news for us busy parents!

One of the other answers that I got was that you can’t out-train a bad diet.

This is 100% spot on too.

I’ve also found this out the hard way.

20 years ago I spent my first working holiday away from home – 3 months working in a summer camp in Alabama.

It was awesome.

And I enjoyed myself a little too much and ended up putting on 10kg in just that 3 months!

Yep too much of the American portion sizes, free access to the chocolates and ice-creams in the camp store and too much beer.

And for the most part I was working out twice a day for 5-6 days a week.
Needless to say that 10kg wasn’t muscle…

So yes, you can’t out-train a bad diet and even at 21 I found that out – when previously I could eat anything I wanted and still not put on weight.

So like I said, let me know yours to add to the list.
