Maybe you haven’t exercised in months.

Maybe even years.

Maybe the last time you did some exercise was when they called last drinks at the bar and you had to make a mad rush?

Or chasing after your kids when they’re about to sprint across a busy carpark just to test you?

I know it can be intimidating when you think of what exercise is.

Or is often made out to be.

You know the sweat soaked t-shirt and red face selfie that someone posts on Facebook or Instagram to ‘inspire’ you.

And every other hashtag that follows.

BUT it doesn’t have to be like that.

You can start off slow.

You can do half the planned workout.

So long as you do something.

I’m not going to lie, and paint pictures of rainbows and unicorns and angels singing as you get your body moving.

It isn’t a movie.

Yes, your body will be a little sore.

How sore?

Depends on whether you flog yourself or start smart.

Start smart and you’ll get a little bit of soreness in your body in the right spots to let you know that you did something.

Flog yourself and you won’t be able to get out of bed.

That’s not what I’m about.

But there’s one thing I  can guarantee you after you finish.

You will feel better.

Pretty much straight away.

Your brain will release some chemicals “the feel good endorphins” to give you a kick.

Same thing happened to me the other day.

I hadn’t boxed in a couple of months.

Did a quick session and felt good after.

Sure I was tired.

It was only 15 mins, but it hit the spot.

But here’s the deal.

I felt good and you will too after yours.

I don’t say this cause I love to work out and post some ‘fitspo’ or whatever.

More so, cause I don’t really love exercise anymore – and you don’t have to either.

I used to love it.

Had plenty of time to do it.

Now I do it so I don’t get fat and end up dead like my Dad.

And not so much time like there used to be.

You might be the same.

But hang in there.

You’ll feel better after it.

Mentally and physically.

Start with something.

Don’t be intimated by what’s ahead.

Take the plunge.

You’ll appreciate it in 4 weeks and even sooner when you start to notice those pants getting easier to slide over your thighs.

You’ll even be able to slip into something you haven’t been able to wear for a while.
