Think what you will about Mike Tyson.
I mean there’s plenty of evidence from his past to say that he’s a piece of work with plenty of skeletons in his closet, so if he’s not on the top of your Christmas card list – I get that.
But there’s one quote he did say that I think really resonates with this year.
“Everyone has a plan until they are punched in the face”.
Now it’s been a long, long time since I’ve actually been punched in the face, or punched someone in the face for that matter, but speaking metaphorically, I think we’ve all been punched in the face this year.
It was a line I heard on a podcast yesterday referring back to the Tyson line and what we’ve been thrown this year.
It’s an interesting analogy.
To one degree or another, we’ve all been punched in the face to a degree.
The real thing is how you respond after that punch.
And to be honest, if you’re sitting there reading this now, it means you’ve copped that punch and kept going.
You didn’t give up just because you got punched in the face.
You kept going.
So well done.
Sure, some got punched harder than others.
But we can only deal with what we’ve been dealt.
Even if this year has been the year from hell for you, it’s nearly over if you need that page to be crossed off.
I like to think the way the year has turned out has given us a few new tools to move forward.
Turning a negative into a positive.
That’s how I see it anyways.
