Some interesting numbers to throw at you today, courtesy of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare’s Australia’s Health 2018 study.

Some of it sounds like it’s straight out of things that make you go hmm as C&C Music Factory would’ve said back in the day.

Such as = 4 out of 5 Aussies aged over 15 rated their health as excellent, very good or good back in 2014-2015.

Yet, at the same time, 63% of us over the aged of 18 are considered overweight or obese.

That makes me go hmm at least.

Yes, like I’ve said before, you can be overweight and healthy. But that extra 17% makes me think a lot of people are living in denial about their current state.

The sad thing about this number is that 30% of kids 5-17 are in the same classification.

That is way higher than when we were kids I’d hazard a guess.

And these poor kids are setting themselves up for a lifetime of issues if things don’t change.

Here’s a bomb for you: out of those figures and a lack of physical activity accounts for 9% of the total disease burden in our great land.

That’s the same number that the leading risk factor – tobacco smoking contributes.

Not good.

Another interesting finding was that 45% of us between 16-85 will experience a mental illness in their lifetime.

At least things are out in the open more about this these days so it’s not as behind closed doors as it  used to be.

So hopefully that number can get the help they need to get on top of their battles.

I could go on, but Here’s the highlights if you’re interested.

So once again, this is the perfect incentive to keep doing what you’re doing.

And if you need help with that, get on board with the DPM Edge program
