Something a little different today that doesn’t really have a fitness angle, but it’s one worth sharing nonetheless.
There was an article in the Harvard Business Review “Self-Compassion Will Make You a Better Leader” and it’s worth looking into today.
Cause there’s one thing that I have worked out over the last however many years = everyone is their own harshest critic.
So a little bit of self compassion wouldn’t go astray.
According to the paper, the best way to do this is with a combination of self-kindness, common humanity and mindfulness.
In more simple words:
“it means taking a perspective toward yourself as you would with a friend or colleague who is facing a setback or challenge. It’s skill that is simple, but it’s surprisingly difficult for many of us”
That’s a pretty good way to look at it I think.
Most people will always take the time to help someone else when they’re doing it tough – but what about helping yourself?
The interesting point made was that people will often think they’ll going too easy on themselves if they practice a bit of self compassion so they don’t do it.
Hopefully this little insight, or the article itself which you can find here gives you a timely reminder to be kind to yourself.
