So it’s time to put the kettle on.
Or better still, just relocate your desk to your local coffee shop.
Cause I’ve got some more good news to share with you about that brown liquid goodness of the gods that I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
There’s some research that was recently published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology that came up with an interesting finding around coffee.
And it’s not what you’d expect.
Pretty much everyone knows that drinking coffee can be linked to increased alertness and performance.
And we all know someone who can’t function without their morning cup. It could even be you.
I know I struggle without mine.
I don’t usually have mine first thing but I certainly look forward to that injection of caffeine into my veins when I do get a chance to sit down and grab one.
Anyways, I’ve been rabbiting along enough, I’ll get to the point.
The interesting finding in this research was that you don’t have to actually drink the coffee to get a benefit.
They found that just the smell of the coffee can lead to an increased performance and alertness.
I don’t know about you, but that’s a very interesting finding wouldn’t you agree?
Personally, I love the smell of coffee but I’ve never correlated it to feeling more alert before it gets into my system.
It’s something that I’ll try and pay attention to from now on and see if I notice any benefit.
Cause if that’s the case, and it does indeed work as advertised,
it might make sense to have a cup of instant coffee next to you when you’re under the pump.
Not necessarily to drink it, but for the aromatic benefit.
It’d also be interesting to see whether there’d be a difference between that instant coffee and a real deal one from the local coffee shop. Or even one made from home where you grind the beans or use the pods.
