Just wanted to drop in and ask you how you’re travelling right now?
Like really travelling.
Not with a just brush it off and she’ll be right thing.
Really how are you doing right now?
Obviously none of us have ever had to deal with anything like this in our lifetimes before and it’s something totally foreign to have everything you normally take for granted.
Things like going to sit at a cafe and enjoying a feed and a coffee.
Things like actually being able to go outside and train with your fellow group members.
Never would’ve even expected to have that just taken away from us at the quickness that it was.
But it is what it is.
I guess this could be the good time to have a total re-set.
It makes you realise what you need to cut out of your life.
And what you really do need in your life.
Chances are you may be getting a little bit extra sleep now (hopefully)?
I’m taking that for a couple of extra days a week as a small bonus as I can’t travel in to do my sessions in person.
So that’s one thing.
And I’m also thinking we’re lucky this happened now were we can all jump on zoom and still get a workout in compared to if it happened 10 years ago when we’d be battling some dodgy skype connection and wifi wasn’t even a thing.
So there’s that too.
And it’s a chance to do some extra exercise. Be that a walk or another home workout.
Some people might even come out of this recharged and fitter than they’ve ever been before.
There’s that too.
Sure, things could be better. I’ve taken a small hit already, but am lucky that it’s just that for now compared to others who through no fault of their own, who’ve had everything taken out from under them overnight.
Hopefully it doesn’t get to that point.
But I can only worry about what I can control.
I’m also actually enjoying some extra time with Emily at home and rather than follow a regimented school approach like a drill sergeant which would be impossible with 2 people working from home and a kid trying to homeschool full time, we’ve taken a more relaxed approach.
Kinda like a school of life thing.
Still doing a little bit of school work.
Mixed in with a bit of play and a bit of life education or learning via her toys or whatever for maths type things.
Granted, by the this time next week I could well have chucked my toys out of the cot and heading to the bottle shop, but so far it’s working and I know it’s only early days but I think that’s the key to remember that it isn’t going to ruin her education.
It’s not as if she’s in year 12 or whatever.
It might even help in the long run and a bit of extra bonding time with her is good too.
So that’s my two cents.
So far I’m hanging in there for now.
Sure I can’t wait to things get back to the way they used to be.
But back to my first question.
How are you travelling?
Let me know if you’re struggling.
And if you need some help, I’m happy to help out and see what I can do within an exercise framework.
