Thought I’d throw out a question for the DPMers for a Friday.
What are your thoughts about resuming the boxing part of our workouts?
As you know we’ve been just doing shadow boxing now for months.
Even though technically, we’ve been able to restart the glove and focus pad work for a little while now, I just didn’t think it seemed right considering the outbreaks in recent months.
Things didn’t go downhill, and have been very stable at low numbers for a continued period now, meaning although we’re not totally out of the woods, we’re getting closer.
So I thought I’d open it up to you – cause obviously you’re the ones who have to glove up.
The advice from Fitness Australia was that boxing workouts come under the contact sport guidelines.
Meaning that although we’re not punching each other, you don’t have to socially distance – just like if you were playing a contact sport like footy where they tackle each other.
Now I’ll qualify this by saying that if majority rules and we do resume the focus pads and glove work, then if you’re not comfortable in doing so, you won’t be forced.
You can still do shadow boxing.
But for those who want the green light, and have been asking, I figure now’s as good a time as any.
What do you think?
Of course, the gear will be sanitised like I do for the tubes and rollers now after each use and you’ll have access to the hand sanitiser like now.
And you will have your inner gloves to keep like normal.
If it’s a goer, I’ll dig the gear out and bring it back next week.
But like I said, it’s not my call cause I’m not the one doing it. It’s up to you.
My thought is it’s safe to resume, but you have the final say.
