Let me take a wild stab in the dark…

You enjoy a drink?

No shame there.

Me too.

In fact give me a good red or a nice rum and we’d get along quite well.

And chances are you probably enjoyed some of the nectar of the Gods on the weekend too.

Maybe even too much.

It happens.

I know I had ‘a day at the office’ at the races on Saturday.

Definitely not a regular thing but drank more than I normally do each weekend.

So this news is very timely if you like a drink too.

Did you see the report last week that people who drink alcohol are less likely to die from cancer if they’re physically active?

Pretty cool right?

The findings, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, found physical activity may decrease the risks of dying from cancer and other illnesses.

The only thing that I’d say with this research was they expected a minimum 150 hours of exercise a week.

That’s a damn lot.

I’d have you consider that you don’t need that much.

There was no mention of a control group that trained for only 60-120 hours a week.

And I reckon that’s pretty much all you need.

Cause if you’re moving and active and doing something good for yourself it can’t be bad if you enjoy a few drinks here and there.

Of course, the researchers did point out that it doesn’t give you the license to drink more – just cause you exercise but that’s stating the obvious don’t you think?

Ask anyone who’s trying to lose weight if that holds up.

Nope.

But all in all, hearing this news is a good thing.

A little reassurance maybe?

I tell you what is gives you that bit of reassurance?

Getting moving again.

So if you’ve got  some damage to unwind, and it has been a long time between drinks so to speak when it comes to exercise,

maybe it’s time you came and joined us at our small group sessions.

You can find us in the CBD or Lilyfield and even if you haven’t done anything for years you’d be sweet.

Why?

Cause you work at your pace.

Just like you drink at your own pace you can do the workouts at your pace.

Work at your speed and build up as you get more used to it.

Kinda sounds obvious but a lot of training groups or gym classes will just throw you to the wolves and let you fend for yourself.

Not us.
