Don’t you agree that we humans are a weird bunch? There’s plenty of examples I could give, but this one comes to mind as a strange thing and I’m the first to admit I play my share in it too.
Yesterday I heard that the singer of Roxette had passed away. And I don’t know about your childhood, but as far as late 80’s and early 90’s pop or whatever it was called back then, they were pretty awesome.
I remember seeing them at an instore appearance at the old HMV Megastore back when
I was too young to go to a concert and if I wasn’t listening to 80’s hair bands, chances are I was listening to them or some Aussie rock.
Anyways, the weird habit I’m referring to is I can guarantee that I wasn’t the only one who went to my Spotify and played a bit of Roxette for old times sake yesterday.
And for those who were fans of Mental As Anything, they probably did the same thing last week.
I guess it reminds us of a good time growing up when things weren’t as complicated as they are now.
You could also almost argue that it’s a good career move – for your estate at least.
With that last point in mind, I’m hoping you’re not waiting for me to pass on before you rush out and get your copy of my Short ‘N Sweet book.
It’s still only $20 until the end of the month, and 100% of my profits are going to the Vinnies Bushfire Appeal until Christmas.
So help yourself and some others who need it more by grabbing yours, and maybe even one for a friend here.
PS – and if I’ve sent you on a spiral of Roxette’s back catalogue now after this, I don’t apologise! They were great.
