Not really one for quotes and all that stuff these days.
Cause after all, all the motivational quotes in the world don’t mean much if you’re not going to actually do anything about it right?
No matter how much you get a big pump up after reading it.
You know the quick fix thing?
But then you’ve got to do all the work and life gets in the way and etc etc.
You get the point.
This is a different one though.
And it gives you an interesting way to look at where you may be right now.
“When nothing seems to help, I go back and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it.
Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it—but all that had gone before”
Not bad hey?
This quote is from Jacob Riis, an old bloke from the 19th-century who did some pretty big things back then
For me, it really hits home.
Maybe it will for you as well.
But basically, this may help you if you currently feel like you’re banging your head against a brick wall when it comes to making progress.
You see, as in life, losing weight or anything, ain’t all flowers and smooth sailing.
There’s ups, where you’ll feel like you’re flying.
The eating is falling into place.
You’re getting in the time to get those quick workouts.
Your pants are feeling looser and your skin looks clearer.
But then, there’s the downs.
You have a tough day and reach for the bottle.
Don’t worry, you’re not the only one.
I can too.
Sometimes the downs can feel like they drain out the ups.
But remember this.
The stonecutter doesn’t split that rock with one blow.
Just like you won’t make all the progress just by doing one solid week of workouts.
Or expect to drop a few kgs just because you’ve strung a couple of good days together.
Anything worthwhile is a process.
And a journey.
Just stay the course.
And keep striking that rock.
One blow at a time.
Enjoy the times when you make a few big cuts in the rock so-to-speak.
Hang in there when you feel like you’re chipping away and nothing seems to happen.
And if you need to sharpen your axe and get a kick start to get your body moving again I’ve got a couple of personal training time slots available again for you:
