What if I told you there’s a way you can burn around 200% more calories,
And you didn’t have to exercise to do it?

I’m going to hazard a guess that it’s an obvious yes.

So what is it?
I came across some old research from back in 2007 the other day that was in the Journal of Internal Medicine,
And they found that the way to burn 200% more calories than exercise is to do something called NEAT.
Neat stands for Non-Exercise Associated Thermogenesis.
Big words, but basically it means the calories burned by movement.
So that covers things like walking, fidgeting, standing up etc.
Not your regular workout.
So what’s the calorie burn?
These numbers make for interesting reading:
Exercise burns up to 5% of total daily calories…
NEAT burns up to 15% of total daily calories…
That’s a massive 200% more calories burned just from getting off our butt and moving.
Not bad hey?
Just gives you an extra incentive to get out with the kids more.
Or to move more when you’re at work.
Get up and get a water refill.
Get up and stretch your legs every hour you’re at your desk.
The Tomato One App is great for this type of thing.
You can set your timer to say 25 mins or work and 5 mins of stretch/recovery time.
I do this when I’m on a short deadline.
