If your 90’s were spent like mine listening to copious amounts of Guns N’ Roses, you’ll not doubt recall that song 14 years.
Still a good song al these years later off what was my favourite album for most of my teenage years – Use Your Illusion 2.
Well keeping in line with that, pretty much to the day it’s been 14 years since I walked into the department of fair trading or whatever it was called then and registered a business name.
So, unlike the song that laments a lost love, I’m still here to tell the tale.
Back then I would never have thought I’d be here this far down the track.
When history told me, and still does, that most personal trainers are done in less than 2 years.
I guess that’s why our registration period only goes in 2 year cycles.
Anyways, I’m still here and I want to thank you cause I wouldn’t be here otherwise.
There’s a bunch of DPMers who’ve been around for nearly as long too which I’m obviously very grateful for.
To think that back when I started it was initially with the goal of working with athletes – particularly rugby players – as that’s what I was into at the time = hence the performance part in DPM.
Only for me to realise there was a ready made market of people wanting a solution at the corporate gyms that I worked in that wasn’t being provided to them – group training.
So I ran with that.
And here we are.
Who knows how long it’ll go for down the track but maybe I should look into some sort of cool DPM gear with a 2020 theme for next year.
Plenty of angles you can hit with that I think.
It hasn’t been all roses.
There’s been times when I really wanted to throw the towel in and go and get a real job.
There’s also been plenty of times when I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else.
That’s life I guess.
So thanks for the ride and thank you to those who have been part of it.
I’ve met some awesome people, many who have become real friends and would’ve worked with hundreds of people over those years and hopefully been able to help a fair share of them be in a better position than when they started.
Finally, if you want to get your partner in on the action, get them sorted for the DPM Family Pass where they can upsize your training package and get the same level access as you for only an extra $99/mth
PS – I’ll be locking in the date soon for our annual DPM Christmas Drinks.
Chances are it’ll be a Sunday lunch time slot like last year.
